I WAS A CARNIST
I loved animals. I ate them, too. Because I’d never thought of what I ate as animals. If I had, I would have stopped, and I did when I finally did.
I was not evil. I was a victim of conditioning.
I WAS PESCETARIAN
I loved shellfish. I ate some, too. Because I’d never thought of they who lacked pain as a victim. If I had, I would have stopped, and I did when I finally did.
I was not evil. I was a victim of conditioning.
I WAS VEGETARIAN
I loved animals. I exploited them, too. Because I’d never thought of taking what’s theirs as exploitation. If I had, I would’ve stopped, and I did when I finally did.
I was not evil. I was a victim of conditioning.
I WAS A VEGAN
I loved non-animals. I ate and exploited them, too. Because I’d never thought non-animals worth moral consideration. If I had, I would’ve stopped, and I tried when I finally did.
I was not evil. I was a victim of conditioning.
I’M STILL JUST VEGAN
Though I know I am a hypocrite—and I’ve tried many times to fully break that. Like vegans and non-vegans, I am not evil. I am still a victim of conditioning.
Please don’t condemn me.
I need help unlearning what I learned.
